The transition from Early Learning years is a big step as you help your little one transition from kinder to becoming an enthusiastic primary learner.
At Heritage College, we assist the four-year-old kinder pupiles to transition into the Prep program seamlessly. On Monday 13th May, our Step Into Prep Information Evening will be held from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in the Early Learning Centre on Officer Campus. Visitors will hear from early learning educators and prep teaching staff, as well as an overview of the educational philosophy at Heritage College. Parents will be invited to attend the Prep Orientation Days for Terms 3 and 4, and receive support on how best to prepare your child for school.
We understand that leaving the kinder years behind is a big step. Facilitating a positive transition to the classroom space enables each child to feel secure, supported and nurtured. When the First Day of Prep comes, children are ready to take their next steps on their Heritage College journey.
How do I know if my child is ready to go to Prep next year?
Nerves are commonplace prior to commencing a new journey or event. As a parent, you have the advantage of the most insight and understanding of your child’s abilities and capacity. Good indicators for readiness for the Prep year include displaying:
- An awareness socially of others
- Confidence to attempt new things
- Eagerness to learn
- Natural curiosity and participates in investigative play.
Your kindergarten teacher will also be a great guide; they have helped many a kindergarten pupil into their first year of school. One of the best ways to alleviate any first-day Prep jitters is to be part of an Early Learning Centre that supports a strong transition program into Prep.
Places for Prep 2020 are filling quickly across both campus locations. Visit our enquiries page to apply today.
