The end of year celebration for the Year 12 cohort was held on the grounds of Heritage College.
As a formal farewell event to the graduating class of 2021, the Year 12 Valedictory Dinner historically takes place off-site at a separate venue.
Due to COVID restrictions still in place at the time of event planning, the event was held on-campus, hosting graduates, immediate family members, teaching staff and leadership from Heritage College.
Head of Secondary, Mr Darren Martin was unable to attend the event but gave a message of encouragement to the class he first taught at Heritage College upon his commencement.
“I have fond memories of teaching many of you, enjoying Year 11 camp together and chatting about the important things in life,” he said.
Mr Martin shared his pride in the cohort’s achievements, especially in light of the challenges these past two years, saying their resilience “encourages me to continue giving my best in my work too.”
“I look forward to seeing you again one day soon, and to hearing what you achieve in your next exciting chapter of life.”
With a masquerade party as this year’s theme, personalised masquerade masks were handcrafted by the students for each guest. Teaching staff were also presented with a teacher’s journal as a gift of gratitude from the graduating class.
Parent Mrs Janine Smilek expressed her gratitude, praising the efforts of teaching staff for the work required to deliver the successful event.
“We are grateful that such an event was organised for our children to commemorate the completion of their schooling stage of life,” she said.
“Thank you so much for the great care and love shown towards our children and making them feel special for their last school event.”
