ANZAC Day & Remembrance Day (Whole School)
Every year Heritage College supports the local community ANZAC Memorial Services. Primary and Secondary school captains represent our student body by respectfully acknowledge our fallen soldiers and place a floral wreath at the site. Narre Warren South campus supports the mid morning service at Berwick, while Officer campus attends the Dawn Service. It is an honour and privilege to recognise our Australian and New Zealand soldiers and their bravery.
Clean Up Australia Day (Foundation – Year 6)
All students from Prep to Year 6 are involved in this day. Younger students look at their local school environment, while the senior students go out into the community to clean up their local environment. This opportunity to demonstrate the value of Service allows students to care for the world around them in a selfless manner.
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day (Prep – Year7)
Each year students visit the local community and hand-deliver small gifts to mothers and fathers. This opportunity allows students to interact with their community through the value of service: giving to others! To further celebrate mothers and fathers, students invite their parents to participate in classes on the day to enjoy learning together. This is always finished off with an enjoyable morning tea or barbeque.
Service Projects (Years 7-12)
One of the values that Heritage College students display is that of service to others. Students are encouraged to think outside themselves and their own desires, referring to the model that Jesus laid down for all His followers to do the same. At the end of every year, students have the opportunity to take part in acts of service that help the local community, rather than do traditional end of year activities. Students can choose from baking Christmas cookies to deliver to local residents in Pakenham, visiting and spending time with the elderly, cleaning up rubbish around Lakeside Lake, helping with maintenance at the Officer Scout Park, and creating and delivering hampers for hospital patients as well as activity hampers for ill children.
