Heritage College VCAL Program
Heritage College VCAL Program

The VCAL program at Heritage College is structured to ensure students are employment ready and well prepared for further study at TAFE.

VCAL students learn in a different manner, where real life practical programs coupled with theory at VCE standards prepares students for entering the workplace. On-going career counselling helps in the selection of appropriate TAFE Certificate’s that will lead to a rewarding career.

The practical areas of the VCAL are student driven. Senior students run all projects. During class in Term 3 of Year 11, at the end of the VCAL intermediate level, students determine what major projects will be completed during their senior year. Students formulate budgets and work with all of the relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance and to emulate a real-world scenario. Students then submit their plans to School leadership for acceptance and begin implementation of their plans.

Through the support and advice of experienced mentors and ongoing career counselling, students are prepared for employment, further TAFE study and to become positive members of their community.
