The annual trip to Avondale College situated near Lake Macquarie about one hour north of Sydney is a highlight for Year 11 students. The camp focuses on careers and future pathways, with students touring Avondale College, the closely linked Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School for training in Nursing and Medicine, the Adventist Media Centre, and the headquarters of ADRA Australia (the Adventist Development and Relief Agency). These tours give students insight into the steps they might need to take to enter a variety of industries after school.
Students also have the opportunity to tour some parts of Sydney, starting with a walk across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and taking a trip across the harbour to Manly. Another favourite part of the day is the opportunity to try out the now famous “Escape Room” challenges encouraging teamwork and problem solving.
