As the school bell rings to open Term 3 and Semester 2, the Heritage College media team is back to capture another action-packed half of the year. The latest episode of HCC In-Depth features a refreshed studio desk as hosts Madelin and Kaleana welcome Telicia and Cam to the team, bringing you the biggest stories from across our campuses.
The big highlight over the winter break was our dedicated staff joining educators from across the state for the annual ASVAC conference. The event provided a brilliant space for our team to collaborate, and several Heritage staff members were recognized with prestigious awards for excellence: Ms. Tori, Mr. Huddleston, Ms. Meuwly, and Mr. Adonis. We also celebrated the remarkable dedication of our long-serving staff members with service milestone pins, headlined by Mrs. Janette Bower, who was honored for an incredible legacy spanning 35 years of commitment to our school community.
This week's episode highlights practical learning at both ends of the school journey. Our Year 10 students stepped out of the classroom and into the workforce for a highly valuable week of Work Experience. From navigating professional environments to developing new workplace skills, our Year 10s represented the school beautifully, building practical confidence for their future careers.
Our youngest learners have been busy building independence too. In Prep J, students had a wonderful time learning how to make their own toast, following step-by-step sequences to support their understanding of digital technology and integrated studies. Meanwhile, in Year 1N, colour and creativity took over the classroom for a dedicated "Crayon Day," where students explored their artistic expression while strengthening fine motor skills and cooperative learning.
Michael took us outside the school walls in Beyond Heritage, keeping us updated on the latest news from our local community, the wider Adventist community, and touching stories from further afield.
Since it is only the first week back at school, the sporting front is all about looking forward to a blockbuster Term 3 calendar. Cam joins the sports desk to give us a preview of what is to come, including Gymnastics running on Mondays and Tuesdays for our Prep to Year 2 students, upcoming SSV Winter sports, and highly anticipated CSEN sports days later this term.
That's it for the first week of Term 3. The team will be back next week with more stories and highlights from around Heritage College.
