The centre is part of a wider college community at Heritage College. Each Early Learning Centre is owned and operated by Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Victoria) Limited. The Centre operates a long daycare program offering a three and four-year-old Kindergarten and provides education in harmony with the beliefs, values, lifestyle and commitment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Each staff member encourages the development of Christian character through the nurture of the whole person. Character is developed with the support of a Bible-based curriculum, which is modelled upon the mission, philosophy and ethos of Adventist Schools. As part of their daily routine, educators provide Bible-based Christian values using the Early Encounters program.
Programs are designed to increase confidence and provide positive experiences for each child to support this goal. Activities range from the application of fine motor skills in art and craft, story time with educators that extend and develop language and comprehension or learning new games and developing social skills in the playground under careful supervision. Each activity is developed to help each child increase their confidence, begin to trust their decision making and be led by their innate curiosity.
The curriculum framework has an emphasis on respect for others, excellence in service and good stewardship. Professional educators provide a nurturing learning environment for each child, enabling them to reach their full potential in their foundational years of learning.
