At Heritage College, we are interested in both academic success and setting our students up for life, helping each student to discover themselves in the process. Our values-based curriculum is at the very core of what we do.
Our primary teachers focus on the individual. They look to further each child’s strengths while providing support in other areas. Heritage College follows the Australian Curriculum with the addition of one subject, the Bible. We call it ‘Encounter’ as we hope that every child will have an encounter in their walk with God.
Using Christ’s example, Heritage College seeks to provide a holistic education for an abundant life. We live and speak the language of our values, selecting Excellence, Resilience, Respect and Service as the four core college values. Students are encouraged to live these values daily. Each student develops an understanding of these values as they grow, discussing them in the classroom, in the playground and at home. We encourage students to apply these values in different situations, asking “what does excellence look like?” or “how does respect sound?”
There are many opportunities to develop and extend your child’s skills, interests and capabilities at Heritage College. Athletics, Gymnastics and Swimming lessons are available for Primary students, along with a range of team sports. Heritage College is also a member of School Sports Victoria, providing an opportunity for students who excel in a particular field to progress towards State Championships.
There are opportunities to grow in Leadership, including participation in the Year 5 Buddies program with Early Learners, Peer Support and Student Representative Council. Nominations for House Captains and School Captains are held annually.
Heritage College also offers a vibrant Arts program in the Primary years. Students participate in a range of Performing Arts activities with the option to perform in the Student Band and Choir ensembles. Performances are held throughout the year to showcase student talent and musical development. In Visual and Media Arts, student artworks are proudly displayed around the college.
We believe that service to others matters. We recognise and commemorate annual days including Clean Up Australia Day, ANZAC Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and support several community projects. Our focus on service to others culminates in a Service Trip to Nepal in Year 12.
