The end of year celebration for the Year 12 cohort was held as an event under the stars this year.
Traditionally, the Valedictory Dinner takes place off-site at a separate venue suitable for such an occasion. However, due to COVID restrictions still in place at the time of planning, the event was held on-campus, hosting graduates, immediate family members as well as senior secondary school staff and leadership from Heritage College.
Head of Secondary, Mr Darren Martin, spoke on the importance of secondary education, reminding students that finishing high school is not something everyone can do, and not to take the opportunity lightly.
Mr Martin encouraged students to look back on this particular year with real fondness, despite the difficulties this year has presented, reminding students of their resilience in pressing through such adverse conditions in 2020.
Mr Martin said this year should act as a reminder that each student "can indeed, do anything that they put their mind toā, he said.
Graduates were presented with awards and certificates, announced during the Presentation Night held on Wednesday 2 December 2020.
A time capsule that was created when the students were Year 7 contained questions relating to their favourite food, music and activities were read out and returned to the students to their delight.
Signed copies of "Oh, the places youāll go!" by Dr Seuss were presented, signed as a keepsake from Heritage College staff.
Light finger food was served by Fabulous Catering and the Heritage College events team provided the event styling.
Parent Ms Lina Mousaco said of the event, āI thought it was beautiful - it was short, it was sweet, it was so deserving for the studentsā, she says.
āThey got through such a difficult year, they didnāt look back but they all pushed forward. As a parent, I was just so proud.ā
