Term 2 Wraps Up with a Packed Final Episode of HCC In-Depth

As the bell rings on the final week of Term 2, the Heritage College media team has signed off the semester in style. The latest episode of HCC In-Depth, hosted by Madelin and Harshant, is a celebration of everything that made this term special, from creativity in the classroom to confidence on the stage and grit on the sporting field.

A night to remember: Primary Production

The big highlight was our long-awaited Primary Production. Held on 16 June, it was a night of singing, dancing and confidence, capping off a mammoth term for our Officer Primary students who spent months learning their lines. With the cast and crew now enjoying a well-earned break, attention already turns to what 2027 might bring. A huge well done to everyone involved.

Learning that matters

This term wasn't only about performance. Students recently visited the Holocaust Memorial, a deeply moving experience that reminded everyone of the true cost of racism. The excursion encouraged students to be an upstander rather than a bystander, exploring the historical dangers of discrimination and leaving with a renewed commitment to inclusion within our community.

Our youngest learners have been busy too. Prep students dived into joyful, hands-on discovery with colourful bubble foam, using their senses to investigate and wonder at the beauty of God's creation. During Reconciliation Week, Prep J students explored the history and significance of Australia's First Nations peoples, listening to guest Loren Ryan share moving stories about her ancestry and the cultural importance of Little Wave Rock.

Stories, books and music

Our Year 11 Vocational Major students brought their literacy learning to life by writing and illustrating their own children's picture books, then reading them aloud to the little ones at the Officer Early Learning Centre. Each book carried a special message or life lesson, and the students generously donated their creations to the ELC library for future generations to enjoy.

Over in the music room, Junior Band jam sessions have given our young musicians the space to build stage confidence, sharpen their rhythm and learn how to blend their instruments into one cohesive sound.

Beyond Heritage

Michael took us outside the school walls in Beyond Heritage, with stories from our local community, the wider Adventist community, and a heart-warming tale or two from further afield.

Down to the Siren

It was a blockbuster finish on the sporting front. At the School Sport Victoria Regional Cross Country, Isla R and Jaxon C represented the College brilliantly after qualifying at the Division level. At the 2026 CSEN Cross Country Championships, Heritage stepped up into the competitive Division B and delivered some spectacular results, headlined by Joshua H finishing first overall as CSEN Champion and Janya K securing second in the girls' division.

And in the moment everyone was talking about, it was Staff vs Students in a fierce game of futsal. The students brought the energy and the footwork, but experience won the day, with the staff taking a 7-2 victory. Better luck next term, students.

See you next term

That's it for Term 2. The team will be back next term with more stories and highlights from around Heritage College.
