Heritage College hosts Hoop Time with special guests Melbourne United

Published on Thursday 10 October, 2019

Heritage College Narre Warren South campus hosted a special basketball event on Tuesday after student Amelia took home the winning entry in the Bulla Hoop Time Grand Final T-Shirt design competition.

Amelia was chosen as the winner of the Bulla Hoop Time contest, with her design beating more than 50 entries throughout Victoria. Amelia’s design depicted the Southern Cross in the Australian night sky.

Amelia’s winning design earned Heritage College an exclusive Game Time event attended by Melbourne United, who provided coaching clinics with coach James across all year levels and finished off with a friendly match between Melbourne United and Heritage College Year 6 students.

Amelia says:

“When my name was called, I felt ecstatic! I couldn’t believe that I won the whole school basketball clinic and that the Hoop Time players got to play against Melbourne United!”

Amelia’s original sketch included a depiction of a basketball as a comet through the nighttime sky. Picture: supplied

Basketball Victoria’s School Programs Coordinator Rebecca Ross said it was great to see one of the Bulla Hoop Time’s players see her design printed for everyone to see. “It was a fantastic design and we congratulate Amelia on her work designing the T-Shirt,” Ross said. “Everyone across the Bulla Hoop Time grand finals will look the part in these shirts and it’ll be great to see everyone wearing what Amelia has designed.”

Mr Roger Sevenhuysen, Deputy Principal (Primary) said the day provided a great opportunity for Amelia to showcase her work and passion for Basketball. “To have her design chosen to represent the Grand Finals combined with a visit by Melbourne United has been a great opportunity for Amelia and our entire school community.”
