During the summer holidays, secondary student Kaitlyn obtained the 13 Year Old Surf Rescue Qualification with her local Surf Lifesaving club at Venus Bay.
Part of the local Nippers club for six years, Kaitlyn progressed to senior surf lifesaving with a training schedule that includes running and bike riding to build stamina. Since obtaining her qualification in January, Kaitlyn has been on patrol at Venus Bay guarding between the flags, on hand to protect the public should they get into trouble in the water.
Off the beach, Kaitlyn is keen to help others in her community at the local swimming pool. In her volunteer role, Katilyn helps children aged three to six to develop their swimming skills.
The next qualification Kaitlyn has her eyes on is the Bronze Medallion for Surf Rescue at 15 years.
We congratulate Kaitlyn on behalf of the college community on being a wonderful role model to others in the community of Excellence, Resilience, Respect and Service.
