Last Tuesday, the roll was called for the very last time for the Year 12 cohort at Heritage College, with the official part of their studies complete.

After an honourary breakfast on campus, the cohort hosted a special assembly that included all secondary students. Each Year 12 student had the opportunity to pass on a piece of wisdom or advice to those in attendance.

"The best piece of advice that I can pass on is from my parents: ‘Do your best and God will do the rest’. In all things, you have to make sure you do your part, not just hope for an A when you study for a C. You have to do your part as well." ~ Alana

"My piece of advice is if you fail at one thing, don’t dwell on it, move on - you still have lots of opportunities in life." - Jake

"Year 12 can be quite stressful, so if you need to, take time out for yourself to assess where you’re at, but keep the end goal in mind and work as hard as you can to get there." ~ Jacob

"Heritage College has a really good support system in terms of teachers. The smaller the classroom the more attention you get. In VCE, ask your teachers a lot of questions, because you can get so much out of them." ~ Tadiwa

Student Zoe coordinated a commemorative slide presentation highlighting the year’s memories together, with students presenting a gift to the teaching staff: a Championship Cup that will be used throughout the year for Staff v Student sports matches. The students shared with guests their plans for next year. Entry to university was the plan for the majority of the cohort, with a view to studying in a range of disciplines including Nutrition Science, Business Law, Psychology, Nursing and Medicine. Others were taking a direct entry route into the field of Childcare, subsidised with vocational training. Their continuing stories will be shared with the college as they take their steps into the workforce and further study.

The Year 11 students had a surprise of their own, presenting each Year 12 student with a personalised gift and handwritten note of encouragement. To finish the day, Miss Taylor hosted a buffet lunch at the Lynbrook Hotel.
