The wait is over for VCE students at Heritage College who received their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and VCAL results this week.
With a small cohort, just 12 students set out to obtain and succeed in achieving a VCE certificate. Three students completed VCAL qualifications, including Certificate III qualifications in Graphic Design, Early Childhood Education and Animal Studies. Of these, two study scores over 40 and six study scores of over 35 were achieved. Achieving an ATAR of over 90 this year was 2019 Dux, Jake Locop.
Graduating students of Heritage College will apply for university, the majority being in nursing, nutrition science or medicine. TAFE is an option as well with students who have achieved their certificates continuing onto Diplomas in childcare whilst working. Others are beginning employment or taking time off for a gap year.
VCE Coordinator, Miss Elyse Taylor says when planning a study path, goals are important. “Heritage College has seen steady improvement in the average results achieved and 2019 is no exception. If students want to achieve, it begins with choosing the right pathway and then knowing which subjects will help them reach their goals.”
Ms Taylor reiterates that success is not just measured by a single number of study score, but with a focus each student’s learning journey, adding, “as proud as we are when a student achieves an excellent score, that number is meaningful for such a short time in their lives. Helping students securing an offer of a place in their preferred Tertiary course or employment in their career field will always be our focus.”
Minister for Education James Merlino also congratulated all the students, saying:
“Completing VCE is an incredible moment and I congratulate the class of 2019. Thank you to the parents, friends and teachers across the state who provided encouragement and guidance to help this year’s VCE and VCAL students reach this educational milestone.”
