Meet... Ms Ellen Schwalger, Executive Administrator.
Tell us a little about your background.
I grew up in a small island of American Samoa, moved to NZ when I was 10 years old and I completed high school there before I moved to Melbourne. Before Heritage College, I was working as a Youth Worker then as a Laboratory Assistant in a Pathology Lab. They are completely different fields but I believe that God puts you where He wants you to be and I'm excited that He has blessed me with a great opportunity here at Heritage College.
What book are you reading, or what would we find on your podcast list?
I am currently going through a book called "Twelve Women of the Bible" it's a great study lesson to go through with some of your girl friends.
What is a quote that has inspired you over the years?
2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" I love this verse because our weaknesses makes us depend on God and He's also the One who gives us strength.
What would you like the Heritage College community to know about you?
I have raised my eight year old nephew since birth, so I can relate to what some of you may go through, such as reminding your child to do homework, eat lunch, or my favourite, when they've misplaced their school uniform. Come chat with me, I'm a great listener.
What do you do in your downtime?
I enjoy finding new cafes/eateries to try around Melbourne, so if you know any good places, let me know! I also enjoy going for walks and hikes. I may take longer than it's supposed to take but I'll eventually get there. Someone once said "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey".
