The Prep classroom at Officer campus was a hive of activity this week as the incoming Prep class of 2021 joined for a combined on-campus event.
Prep Teachers Mrs Bronwyn van Dyk and Mr Troy Kimpton led the classroom activities, engaging young students by sharing a little about themselves and asking each student to share a little about their family.
Mrs van Dyk said after the unpredictable year where COVID has had a significant impact on incoming preps meeting their new classmates, it was a privilege to have all students together for the first time. Earlier in the year, students met with teaching staff online via Zoom. However, restrictions eased on Sunday evening, allowing all students to assemble in a single group together for the first time.
With a quick goodbye from parents at drop off, a festive morning was planned in the classroom with activities and crafts based around the Christmas theme. Learning spaces were explored, outside play areas were tried and tested, and students navigated their way around the building amenities.
Mrs van Dyk said that students enjoyed taking part in the morning, actively participating as our newest Heritage College students.
We look forward to having all Prep students join us again on campus for the first day of school in 2021.
